Cyclone Gita and Redmanuka
Our beautiful Golden Bay location, where Rinopai & RedManuka was born nearly 23 years ago, is a big part of who we are. Rinopai began in 1995 from humble beginnings, and though we’ve grown to become an established New Zealand Jewellery brand , we haven’t moved far from our roots. We still dispatch every order from our small rural location at Parapara, off a narrow gravel road, across the Limonite stream and up Rinopai Hill.
Being based in a rural area however, we are sometimes faced with challenges that are out of our control. Unfortunately, due to cyclone Gita, we are currently experiencing delays with dispatching orders and receiving stock from our suppliers.
The severe weather from Gita has resulted in several road closures, flooding and extreme slips on the Takaka Hill causing significant damage to the state highway. With a state of emergency declared in the Takaka area and Nelson Tasman region, approximately 6000 Golden Bay residents – including ourselves – are isolated as a result of the closures. Two Golden Bay bridges have also been washed away, with two others severely damaged, stranding more residents in Kaituna, near Collingwood. Multiple crews are now tasked with clearing the roads and reopening the Takaka Hill highway in order to restore access into and out of Golden Bay.
While the bad news is that Gita's aftermath has resulted in a delay in delivery time, the good news is that we're using alternative delivery options such as air and sea, so that we can still get your parcel out to you. If you’ve been affected by this delay we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. Rest assured, we’re getting back on track and you can expect your parcel to be on its way to you very soon, if not already.
If you’re thinking about placing an order please be assured that we’re pulling out all the stops to keep things on track. At this stage we aren’t expecting delays in dispatching new orders of more so please check with us if you have a tight timeframe
